Baptism

Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord's will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the Church herself, which we enter by Baptism. CCC 1277

Requirements

• One of the child's parents must be a parishioner and an active  Catholic
• One of the sponsors (godparent) must also be a practicing Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish or provide a "letter of good standing" from their own parish.
• Only one godparent or sponsor is required but if you choose two, one must be male, and one must be female.
• If this is your first child or you have not had a child baptized within the last five years, you are REQUIRED to attend this Baptism Preparation Session before your child can be baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Baptismal Process

• To better understand the Sacrament of Baptism, new parents and parents with children who are new to the parish are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation Session.  The session covers both the Sacrament of Baptism and the Liturgy of Baptism. It also covers the responsibilities of parents in raising their child in the Catholic Faith.
  • The next Baptismal Preparation Session will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am
• The sessions will be offered on Saturdays from 10:00-11:00am four times a year(so plan ahead). 
  • 2025 Sessions - 
    • February 8, 2025
    • May 10, 2025
    • August 9, 2025
    • November 15, 2025

• Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend.
• Once parents have attended a session, a date for Baptism may be scheduled.

Baptismal Process after you have attended a Baptism Preparation Session

• Complete the online Baptism Registration Form.
• The day of the Baptism, one of our Baptism Hosts will be on hand to greet the family and answer any questions.
• No Baptisms will be celebrated during Lent except in an emergency.

Fees

A $50 donation is most appreciated to help cover expenses.
